We almost did not make a page for racial justice because nearly every post deals with it. Race, racism and anti-racism are prevalent in the Minneapolis Interview Project for two reasons: 1) The level of structural racism in Minneapolis, and 2) The interest of the site’s author, Anne Winkler-Morey.

Here you will find posts on the personal experiences of racism among African Americans (Julius Lee, Alice A. Anderson, Cathy Jones, D.A.Bullock, Drew Edwards, August Nimtz, Rose Brewer, Effie Lee, Sherry Quan Lee and more);  Latinx (Adriana Cerrillo, Filiberto Nolasco Gomez, Susana De Leon); Indigenous (Native American) (Roy Taylor, R Vincent Muniz Jr., Marcie Rendon, Shannon Nordby); and Asian American people, (Sherry Quan Lee, Hye-Kyong Kim, Nelsie Yang, David Gilbert-Pederson); the work of antiracist organizing, and discussions of structural racism in schools, neighborhoods, (Angela Conley, Roxxanne O’Brien, Tammy Ortegon); as well as employment, banking, healthcare and other aspects of life. Posts also cover the experience of white people becoming anti-racist activists (Bianca Zick, Jane Burnett, Elizabeth Tannen, Bruce Nestor, Bruce Drewlow); and BIPOC intersectionality (Nelsie Yang, Adriana Cerrillo); as well as mixed-race identity, trans-racial adoption and mixed marriages. You will find in-depth discussions about organizations and movements like Black Lives Matter, (Jason Sole, Drew Edwards, Robin Wonsley Worlobah, Cathy Jones); Black Visions Collective; Hmong Americans for Justice, (Nelsie Yang)UndocuBlack; Black Immigrant CollectiveSURJAIM (Louis Alemayehu Ricardo Levins Morales); Native Lives Matter; Idle No More, (Shannon Nordby); and many more. There are also posts about historical anti-racist movements like the Black Panthers, Nation of IslamAmerican Indian Movement. and the NAACP.
